No easy task for Mercedes: Smart electric
Mercedes failed cooperations: Mitsubishi; Chrysler and now with Renault will it work ?
Forfour, Coupé and Roadster, SUV did not work.
The production of the Nissan LEAF 5-seater electric with 2.500 jobs went to the UK, bad for France
Dieter Zetsche Mercedes and Carlos Ghosn Nissan-Renault to make a deal for April 2010
Mercedes cannot afford the development costs for Smart 3 electric, nor has understanding of small cars
Renault over 20 years unable to build a convincing electric car, with GM-buyer visionary Ghosn:
"I want it, I need it, I say it", and then what ? The reality car manufacturers have to shrink, do only
the special they are made for.
Finance tactics
Daimler AG takes a share of 5% in Renault-Nissan and Nissan a 5% share in Daimler, why ?
400.000 common cars in planning in 4 years, Smart sells now 100.000 cars per year
3 and 4-cylinder combustion engines in planning, that fit also in class B, big error from Daimler
Comment:
The smart car needs a 2-Cylinder or max 3-Cylinder hybrid electric power train for urban
fuel economy. Today the Toyota Prius is more efficient in the City than a Smart.
The cultur of Mercedes Superior and Tricky Renault with GM-eater Ghosn Nissan ...Trio Infernal
This new adventure may cost Daimler another $1bn loss in 5 years, well Zetsche did not see
the necessity to build electric or Hybrid cars 1994, when it was still time, now the loser pays.
Time for change...the old boys have to go; Look at Fisker automotive this is it!
