Procedure:
#1: Make a BAR GRAPH using the information in the table. Countries on the x-axis, footprint size on the y-axis. Graph ALL countries from LARGEST to SMALLEST.
#2: Select two countries. One should have an ecological footprint number greater than 10, and the other should have a number less than 10.
#3 and 4: Create a "lifestyle comparison" table. Use the internet to help you in your research.
Answer the analysis and conclusion questions:
#1 is asking for you to list what is different between the two countries you read about.
#2 wants you to EXPLAIN WHY the footprint numbers are different between the two countries. Why might one country use more resources than the other country? What might one have that the other does not? How are the two places different in the way they use stuff?
#3 can be figured out with a calculator: area of country / population = area per person. If a country has a big footprint, is there a lot of area per person or a little?
#4 Explain about your own country and how your life is different than other people in other countries.
#5 Use your graph to answer.
#6 Use text and notes for help. It's asking about density or "crowdedness." In general, which countries tend to be more crowded and why?
#7 and #8 Answer on your own and be HONEST and EXPLAIN.
EXTRA CREDIT #1: Extension at the end of the lab.
EXTRA CREDIT #2: Calculate your own personal ecological footprint using http://www.footprintnetwork.org/en/index.php/GFN/page/personal_footprint/
