DR. KOSTENKO’S CLASS RULES
Respect me – Listen to me and I will listen to you. This is going to be a two-way street.
Respect each other – I WILL NOT TOLERATE KIDS PICKING ON EACH OTHER. Avoid personal attacks, or singling people out who you think are different. When you come into my room leave the problems outside.
Respect yourself – Know that you are entirely capable of doing well in this class.
Respect the room – Keep it clean and safe so that it’s a nice place to be.
Respect the class – Have an open mind. You may not like the subject, but learning, no matter what the topic, benefits you.
If nothing else, go by the golden rule – treat others how you would like to be treated. Always think…HOW WOULD I FEEL IF THAT WERE ME??
Knowledge is not about knowing the right answers, it’s about asking the right questions. There really are no dumb questions. If you don’t know something or are unsure, just ask – those are the smart ones – they know what they know and they know what they don’t know – and when they don’t know something, they ASK and find it out. Always wonder WHY and HOW.
You are the only ones who determine how well you do in this class. I will give you every opportunity to succeed. It is your choice to take those opportunities and make the most of them. And it’s easy. Just pay attention and you will find that I actually tell you what is on the test and how to get all the answers for the classwork and homework. I even give extra credit. All you need to do is take advantage of these opportunities. You are responsible.
Get here on time – the sooner we begin, the faster class will go. If you are late and do not have a pass, sign in on the late sheet. Three days late earn a working detention.
Be prepared – bring your book and notebook everyday unless advised otherwise. Three days unprepared earn a working detention.
Know and follow class procedure – come in, take your seat, do the DO NOW, listen and participate during the class period, and leave when I dismiss you (not the bell). NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES IN THE CLASSROOM. THERE WILL BE NO LINING UP AT THE DOOR EVER. Infractions against class procedure earn working detentions at the instructor’s discretion. Students that skip detention will be referred to the office.
If you’re ready, you know what to expect, you know how it goes, and it’ll be smooth sailing.
