On lab day you will be divided into groups of 2 or 3.
During the first hour (or day), you and your group will create a powerpoint presentation (detailed below) and rehearse.
During the second half hour (or day), the groups will present.
So essentially, you have completed a substantial packet detailing the kingdoms, made a presentation about the kingdoms, rehearsed a presentation about the kingdoms, presented information to your classmates about the kingdoms, and listened to and critiqued several other presentations about the kingdoms... so you should know ALL ABOUT the kingdoms by the end of this. So we will be done with the kingdoms (and thus chapters 27-34).
Assuming all presentations are thorough, complete, and correct, everyone gets their points, and there will be no need to test on the topic.
Powerpoint presentation guidelines:
Each person in the group is responsible for two or three of the kingdoms and must create 2-4 slides for each.
The slides must include:
defining characteristics
examples and pictures
any other notable features or pieces of information
When all members of the group are finished, all slides must be merged into 1 presentation file and shared with Dr. K.
After a short time to prepare/practice, each group will present.
The groups not presenting will critique their classmates honestly and submit those critiques for review by Dr. K.
The best group will win extra point stickers that can be used either on the next test or the quarterly exam.
