Build a model of the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) molecule using the handouts and materials provided.
Then, on the back of the instructions answer the following questions (use your text and or the internet to help)
1. Define primary structure and state what corresponds to primary structure in the model you made.
2. Define secondary structure and state what corresponds to secondary structure in the model you made.
3. Define tertiary structure and state what corresponds to tertiary structure in the model you made.
4. Define quaternary structure and state what corresponds to (or doesn't) quaternary structure in the model you made.
5. Describe why the specific sequence of amino acids is so critical in a protein's shape.
6. Describe why a protein's shape is so critical for its function.
7. State 2 examples of things that could disrupt a protein's shape?
8. How do the above 2 things disrupt a protein's shape and thus function?
9. How could that be represented in your model?
EXTRA CREDIT 1 (10pts): Repeat the above exercise for insulin.
EXTRA CREDIT 2 (5pts): Build a paper DNA molecule.
