Biblical Truth: Adam and Eve’s sin set in motion humanity’s consistent failure to keep a covenant with God.
Context: The fall of humanity through Adam and Eve’s first sin is reported in Genesis 3:1–8. This first human sin began a long and painful cycle of covenant failure by humanity. Genesis 3 introduces Satan as God’s archenemy and humanity’s nemesis. His principle goal is to sabotage humanity’s covenant relationship with God in order to steal God’s glory. These verses demonstrate Satan’s strategy for leading people to sin and break covenant with God. At the point of their disobedience, Adam and Eve became immediately aware that they had broken covenant with God. Their attempt to cover up their nakedness and hide from God reflects their awareness of their failure.
Learning Goals:
To Understand that sin created the need for a covenant.
To practice using God’s Word to avoid the temptation to sin.
Essential Truths:
People are God’s Treasure
Salvation is by Faith Alone
