The Siemens Line of of Circuit Breakers starts with the Allis Chalmers LA series metal frame, which was eventually replaced by the RL Series. During the 1990's, Architectural footprint space became a premium and Siemens along with other manufactures started building more compact breakers on a Molded Plastic Case. From the Early 90's to the early 2000's the SB insulated case circuit breaker filled this need. The WL Series is the second generation insulated case circuit breaner and is the current power breaker that replaces the RL and SB in Siemens product lineup.

Long Time Fault Protection (Overload)
The Long Time Element includes both a setting factored from the current sensor as well as a variable time delay that allows the engineer to provide custom overload protection for the circuit that the breaker is set up to protect. The pickup ranges from 50-100% in 5% intervals of the sensor rating with a tolarance of -0%- + 20%.
The Timing Delay Ranges from 3.5 Seconds to 30 seconds with intervals of 3.5, 6.0, 10.0, 17.0, 30.0. This is the designed delay time for an overload of 600%. Below is the Tripping points for the Long Time or Overload Element at other magnatudes. The Trip Unit is also equipped with Thermal Memory which is selected using the dip switches on the lower. This must be disabled prior to testing the timing of the Long Time or Overload Element.
Short Time Fault Protection (Short Circuit with Time Delay)
The Short Time Element includes both a setting factored from the Long Time Setting as well as a variable time delay that allows the engineer to provide custom Short Circuit protection for the circuit that the breaker is set up to protect. The pickup ranges from 2x-12x in 2x intervals of the Long Time Setting with a tolarance of -0%- + 20%.
The Timing Delay Ranges from 0.08 Seconds to 0.40 seconds with intervals of 0.08, 0.15, 0.22, 0.30 & 0.40. This is the designed delay time to coordinate short circuti protection between upstream and downstream devices. Below is the Tripping points for the Long Time or Overload Element at other magnatudes. The Trip Unit is also equipped with Thermal Memory which is selected using the dip switches on the lower. This must be disabled prior to testing the timing of the Long Time or Overload Element.
