Lesson Overview
Biblical Passage: 1 Chronicles 13:1–14
Supporting Passage: Numbers 4
Memory Verse: 1 Chronicles 13:9–10
Biblical Truth: Uzzah died because he violated the perfect holiness of God.
Context: This lesson reinforces the importance of approaching God with respect and honor. God had chosen Israel as His covenant people, but this did not mean that they could approach God on careless terms. Similarly, God prescribed certain requirements for moving the Ark of the Covenant, the sacred symbol of His presence with the Israelite nation. When the people failed to follow God’s instructions, they experienced serious consequences.
Learning Goals:
Understand that respect and honor are appropriate responses to God’s holiness.
Apply your understanding by evaluating how you respond to God.
