Memory Verse: Exodus 34:27
Key Question: What does God expect from me?
Biblical Truth: God has requirements for His people to follow as part of His covenant with them.
Biblical Context: The Israelites entered into a covenant relationship with God on Mt. Sinai. God promised them Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey that would become their own. But God wanted them to know exactly what was required of them to receive and maintain this blessing. It must be noted that, as God revealed these laws and truths to His people, He was trying to help them develop their own cultural system. As they gained this land and inhabited it, they would begin to form a distinctive culture, a culture focused on the one true God. Since the Israelites entered into a covenant relationship with God and the people living in the land had rejected Him and worshiped false gods, the people could not exist with them there.
