DOROTHY L. TEMPERLEY was born in Perth, Western Australin in 1915 (1772). In her youth Dorothy was well known within society circles of West Australia. During the war years, she was sent overseas with the VAD and whilst there met and married.

Her husband was Squadron Leader JASPER READ. They married on the 8 December 1942 at St Mark's Church, Alexandria. After her marriage Dorothy resigned from the services and lived in Alexandria whilst her husband was in service.
