08. Garner Angus 1778 [215]

PARENT 07. Henry Angus 1730 [101]

GARNER ANGUS was born at Low Dye House in Northumberland on the 5 May 1778; d 9 April 1822, aged 43 at Horsham, recorded at Horsham General Baptist Church.

He married SUSANNA HEASMAN on the 3 October 1810 in Warnham, Sussex.

Susanna was born 27 Oct 1779 in Warninglid, Sussex and died 7 Sept 1858 in Horsham, England.

Garner Angus ran the Hatters shop in Horsham. Apparently he produced good quality products. It appears at least by 1831 (he died in 1822) that the business was gone because another company occupied the shop by 1831. There's a record of somebody buying a hat from his shop in 1819.

"As I was badly in want of a new hat I straightway went up to Angus' shop, at the south-east corner of Middle Street, where Messrs. Tanner & Chart now are, and of my own initiative bought myself one, an act that greatly enhanced my self-importance and much pleased my dear old mother."
