JONATHAN ANGUS:

He was a deacon at Rowley for many years and a devoted Baptist. When the rebellion of 1715 broke out he stood alone amongst the tenantry of the Earl of Derwentshire in refusing to espouse the Stuart cause and join the army, also described as "of Low Pansheils".(Michael Wilson)
