Expectations from Faculty-To-Be

ORIENTATION AND INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL EDUCATION

Expectations from Faculty/Facilitator-to-be

Dear Faculty/Facilitator-to-be,

Mabuhay!

Welcome to "Orientation and Introduction to Medical Education"!

As a faculty, you are expected to be able to conduct the course "Orientation and Introduction to Medical Education" of the medical curriculum. For this reason, you need to undergo training. The policy of the school is that you should be certified first before you can conduct the course.

See course pack on "Orientation and Introduction to Medical Education".

SPECIFIC TRAINING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the training using distance education mode, the faculty-to-be must be able to:

1. Acting as a medical student, satisfactorily accomplish all the requirements of the course pack.

2. Acting as a faculty-to-be, analyze the instructional design and then determine what and how principles of teaching and learning were utilized by the course programmer.

3. Conduct problem-based learning session in a small group.

4. Acquire skills in making digital slides for presentation.

5. Construct test questions based on the contents of the course "Orientation and Introduction to Medical Education".

6. Prepare a written plan for the actual conduct of the course.

7. Prepare a checklist of all things needed for the full conduct of the course, starting from preparation of course pack to implementation and ending in a post-course report.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS and EVALUATION GUIDES / PARAMETERS

The expected outputs and evaluation guides/parameters for each objective are seen in the table below.

Please accomplish all the above objectives utilizing the enclosed course pack and doing independent study. After you have accomplished all the objectives, that's the only time I can certify you as qualified to conduct the course. I will be using the evaluation guides contained in the course pack as well as other evaluation guides or parameters as seen in the table below.

Such a training program not only will ensure quality teaching but will also promote role modeling on the part of the faculty. You should be able to do what you want the students to do.

*Please see “End-of-Course Summative Evaluation Report Format” in the Appendix.

Best wishes on your learning!
