The bladder vasculature pierces the pelvis autonomic plexuses near the origin of the arteries from the internal iliac arteries. Ligation of these vessels proximally will injure the pelvic autonomic nervous plexuses. ligation is best carried out near the bladder to avoid nerve damage.
