My dear Mother

We are not off yet as the ship could not leave Liverpool in consequence of the strong contrary wind, but as soon as it moderates she will be towed across. We shall most likely embark on Thursday, so I hope to hear again from you all before I leave.

My luggage train troops have not arrived in barracks yet - in fact they only arrived in Dublin this morning. Rather slow travelling that, from Thursday to Tuesday.

I must begin packing up in downright earnest tomorrow morning for I dislike leaving that sort of thing to the last. My outfit is all pretty satisfactory & I am leaving no bills in Dublin. Hurrah for cash payments. I will write again as soon as we are told off for embarkation.

The letter sergeant is waiting.

Love from
