These slippers are made with 2 varieties of Red Heart Scrubby. The rough surface of the Scrubby Cotton on the outer soles makes them more resistant to sliding and also makes them more durable.
Materials-2 skeins Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie (A), 1 skein Red Heart Scrubby Cotton (B), Crochet hook sizes I & H, small amount of batting or fleece fabric to place between inner and outer soles for extra padding, pins, copy paper, pencil, yarn or tapestry (blunt tip) needle, scissors, locking stitch marker. A pair of slippers uses 3.55 (4.09, 4.58)oz A and 1.00(1.2, 1.3)oz B.
Gauge-10 dc sts= 3” with I hook. 11 sc = 3” on upper.
Size-Small-8 ½” long, Medium-9 ½” long, Large- 10 ½” long
Special instructions-Scrubby Cotton yarn gives a lot of resistance-a metal crochet hook is preferable.
The bottom sole is worked in scrubby cotton, but it is very difficult to work a starting chain in that yarn. The foundation chain is worked in Scrubby Soft and then the Scrubby cotton is added.
Stitches used-sl st, sc, sc dec, hdc, dc, crab stitch, invisible join
