Shell Filet Heart Lace Scarf

Materials: Loops and Threads Woolike yarn, size E crochet hook, tapestry needle.

Special stitches- Joined tr- Ch 3 loosely. For joined tr, do not yo. Draw up a lp in 2^nd and 3^rd ch from hook; draw up a 3^rd lp in sc. There are 4 lps on the hook; (yo and through 2 lps)3x.

Scarf is made in 2 panels and joined at the center. Finished model is approximately 4 ½” wide and 54” long, but gauge is not important in this pattern.

2/14/16 update: End every even numbered row with tr, dc in last sc for a more even edge! Join instructions should read (dc or ch-3, ch-3 or dc)

Panel 1

Ch 34 to begin.

Row 1 (RS)-Sc in 2^nd ch from hook, (sk next ch, 3 tr in next ch )(scallop_, sk next ch, sc in next ch)8x, turn. 8 scallops

Row 2- Ch 3 loosely, joined tr in ch-3 and first sc (see directions above), sc in center of next scallop, (ch 4, sc in center of next scallop)7x, 2 tr in last sc, turn

Row 3-Ch 1, sc in tr, 2 tr in next sc, ch 1, sc in next lp, (ch 4, sc in next lp)6x, ch 1, 2 tr in next sc, sc in top of ch-3, turn.

Row 4-Ch 3 loosely, joined tr in sc, sk next tr, sc in next tr, (ch 4, sc in next ch-4 lp)6x, ch 4, sc in next tr, 2 tr in last sc, turn.

Row 5-Ch 1, sc in tr, 2 tr in next sc, ch 1, sc in next lp, ch 4, sc in next lp, 3 tr in next sc, sc in next lp, ,(ch 4, sc in next lp)2x, 3 tr in next sc, sc in next lp, ch 4, sc in next lp, ch 1, 2 tr in next sc, sc in top of ch-3, turn.

Row 6-Ch 3 loosely, joined tr in sc, sk next tr, sc in next tr, *ch 4, sc in next lp, 3 tr in next sc, sc in center of scallop, 3 tr in next sc, sc in next lp*, repeat between *’s, ch 4, sc in next tr, 2 tr in last sc, turn. 2 hearts completed.

Row 7-Ch 1, sc in tr, 2 tr in next sc, ch 1, sc in next lp, *(ch 4, sc in center of next scallop)2x, ch 4, sc in next lp*, repeat between *’s, ch 1, 2 tr in next sc, sc in top of ch-3, turn.

Row 8- Ch 3 loosely, joined tr in sc, sk next tr, sc in next tr, (ch 4, sc in next lp)3x, 3 tr in next sc, sc in next lp, (ch 4, sc in next lp)2x, ch 4, sc in next tr, 2 tr in last sc, turn.

Row 9-Ch 1, sc in tr, 2 tr in next sc, ch 1, sc in next lp, *(ch 4, sc in next lp)2x*, 3 tr in next sc, sc in center of scallop, 3 tr in next sc, sc in next lp, repeat between *’s, ch 1, 2 tr in next sc, sc in top of ch-3, turn. 1 heart completed.

Row 10-Ch 3 loosely, joined tr in sc, sk next tr, sc in next tr, *(ch 4, sc in next lp)2x*, (ch 4, sc in center of scallop)2x, repeat between *’s, ch 4, sc in next tr, 2 tr in last sc.

Repeat rows 5-10 for pattern for length desired, ending with a row 10 repeat. End off.

Panel 2

Work same as panel 1, but to not end off after last row. Joining 2^nd side:

Hold 2 pieces together with RS’s facing and sts matching. Sl st through 1^st st of each panel (tr or ch-3), ch 4, sl st over next lp of each panel, across, ch 4, sl st in last st of each panel (ch-3 or tr), end off, weave in ends.
