Fashion doll ruffled party dress
Materials, Approx. 85 yards of size 10 crochet cotton, divided, size 6 steel crochet hook, scissors, matching sewing thread, needle, snaps
Gauge-Fits fashion doll. Rows 1-2 should fit around doll’s waist with a 2-stitch overlap on each end.
Gauge swatch-Make a swatch of 3-4 rows of about 58 dc. 49 dc should fit closely around widest part of doll’s hips. Keep this swatch to work the bottom of the skirt when it divides.
Special Stitches
Double ch-Ch 2, sc in 2ndch from hook, for first double ch, *sc in side of sc just formed, repeat from * for desired length of chain.
Joined dc-follows a ch-3. For joined dc, do not yo. Insert hook in 2ndch of ch-3 and draw up a lp. Then draw up a 2ndlp in the stitch indicated for the joined dc. You have 3 lps on the hook. Now, (yo and through 2 lps)2x.
Dc decrease-(yo hook, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a lp, yo and through 2 lps)2x, yo and through 3 lps on hook
Work in lp on RS of dress. When RS of dress is facing you, work in the front lp. When WS of dress is facing you, work in the back lp.
Bodice-starting at waistline
To begin make a double ch of 37 sts and ch 1 to turn
Row 1-Sc in 2ndch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn. 37 sts
Row 2 Sc in each ch across, turn.
Row 3-Ch 3 as first dc, joined dc in next st, dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 st)2x, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st)2x, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st)2x, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 st)2x, 2 dc in next st, dc in last 3 st turn. 47 Sts
Rows 4-7-Ch 3 as first dc, joined dc in next st, dc in each st across, turn. Last row should be over the fullest part of the doll’s chest.
Row 8- Ch 3, joined dc in next st, dc in next 12 sts, dec 1 dc over next 2 sts, dc in next 15 sts, dec 1 dc over next 2 sts, dc in last 14 sts, ch 1, turn. 45 sts
Row 9-(make straps)-sc in next 10 sts, ch 11, skip next 5 sts, sc in next 15 st, ch 11, sk next 5 sts, sc in last 10 sts, ch 1, turn (35 sc, 22 ch)
Row 10- -Sc in next 9 sts, *dec over next sc and next ch, 11 sc over chain strap, dec over last ch of strap and next sc,* sc in next 13 sts, repeat between **’s, sc in last 9 sts, ch 1, turn(57 sts)
Row 12-Sc in next 8 st, (dec over next 2 sc, sc in next 11 st)3x , dec over next 2 sts, sc in last 8 sts, turn (51 sts)
Row 13a-begin ruffle-Work in back lp only. Sl st next next 4 ch, ch 3, joined dc in same back lp, dc in same lp, 3 dc in back lp of each st across to last st, 2 dc in last st, ch 3 as last dc, sl st in same lp, turn.
Row 13b-Working in unworked, lp , sl st in each lp across, end off.
Skirt-Join yarn in 1 lp of starting ch
Row 1- working in 1 lp only, ch 3 as first dc, joined dc in next lp, dc in same lp, (dc in next lp, 2 dc in next lp)4x, dc in next 2 lp, (2 dc in next lp, dc in next lp)3x, dc in next 2 lp, (2 dc in next lp, dc in next lp)3x, dc in next lp, (2 dc in next lp, dc in next lp)5x. turn 53 sts
Rows 2-5- Ch 3 as first dc, joined dc in next st, dc in each st across, turn.
Row 6-Ch 3, joined dc in next st, dc in next 48 sts, leaving last 4 sts unworked. Join with sl st to joined dc at beginning of row, skipping the ch-3. Turn. 49 st Begin working in joined rounds
Rnd 7-10- Ch 3, dc in each st around, sk ch 3, join with sl st to top of first dc, turn.
Row 11-Ch 3, dc in next 17 sts, 5 dc in only one lp of next st. Begin a new strand of yarn for the next st (you can now unravel the gauge swatch) and work 5 dc in one lp of st, dc in both lps each st around to ch 3, sk ch 3 [if this leaves a hole in the work, do a dc dec over ch 3 and st next to it] and join with sl st to next dc. End off this second strand, turn. 57 sts The skirt is worked in rows again.
Row 12-(Pick up first strand of yarn and , sl st into next 4 sts and into RS-facing lp of next st sts. Ch 3, 4 dc in same lp , dc in both lps of each st around to last 5 sts, 5 dc in RS-facing lp of next st, leave last 4 sts unworked.
Row s 13-16-Repeat row 12 after ().
Row 17-Sl st into next 4 sts and into RS-facing lp of next st, ch 3, 4 dc in same lp, 3 tr in RS-facing lp of each st around to last 5 st, 4 dc in RS-facing lp of next st, ch 3, sl st into same lp, end off.
Finishing-Anchor all joins and weave in ends. Sew in snaps.
