Triangle of Shamrocks Shawl
Tamm Estilo in Emerald Green, Size 1 (2.75 mm) steel crochet hook. Small sample worked with #10 crochet cotton and a size 2 (2.2 mm) steel hook. Note that this pattern requires a larger hook than recommended on yarn/thread label.
Special Stitches:
Picot-sc, ch 3, sc in indicated stitch
Shamrock -Work sts in top of stem, inserting hook under 2 lps. Work dc, ch 1, 2 dc cluster, ch 4, sl st into top of stem for first leaf. Continue with ch 4, 2 dc cluster, ch 4, sl st into top of stem for 2nd leaf. Ch 4, 2 dc cluster, ch 1, dc to complete 3rd leaf and shamrock.
Shell-3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in indicated space.
Stem (and loop)-ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch, ch 2
Two-double crochet cluster-(yo hook, insert hook in st, yo and draw up a lp, yo & through 2 lps)2x, yo and through 3 lps on hook.
Special instructions:
Begin row-Shell in ch-2 sp of shell on previous round, ch 3.
End row-Ch 3, shell in ch-2 sp of shell on previous round, ch 3, turn.
Ch 4 and join to form a ring
Row 1- Ch 3 as first dc. In the ring just formed work 2 dc, (ch 2, 3 dc)x2. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2-Shell in 1st ch-2, sp, ch 2, shell in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, turn.
Row 3-Begin row. In center ch-2 sp work picot. End row. 1 picot
Row 4-Begin row. Sc in next ch-3 sp, stem,, sc in next ch-3 sp, end row. 1 stem
Row 5-Begin row, sc in next ch-3 sp. Shamrock, sc in next ch 3 sp, end row. 1 shamrock
Row 6-Begin row, picot in next ch 3 sp, ch 5, sc in cluster st of center leaf of shamrock, ch 5, picot in next ch-3 sp, end row. 2 picots
Row 7-Begin row, sc in next ch-3 sp, stem, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 3, sc in next ch-5 sp, stem, sc in next ch-3 sp, end row. 2 stems
Row 8-Begin row, sc in ch-3 sp, shamrock on top of stem, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, shamrock, sc in ch-3 sp, end row. 2 shamrocks
Row 9-Begin row, picot in ch-3 sp, (ch 5, sc in cluster st of center leaf of shamrock, ch 5, picot in next ch-3 sp)2x, end row. 3 picots
Row 10-Begin row, sc in next ch 3 sp, (stem , sc in ch-5 sp, ch 3, sc in cluster st of center leaf of shamrock, ch 3, sc in next ch-5 sp)2x, stem, sc in next ch-3 sp, end row. 3 stems
Continue in pattern, increasing every row until size desired, ending with a picot row.
Next row-Begin row, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 4, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, sc in cluster st of center leaf of shamrock, ch 3, sc in ch 5 lp, continue across row (substituting a ch 4 for the stem) sc in last ch-3 sp, end row.
Last row-Shell in ch 2 sp of previous row, work 3 dc in each ch-3 sp and 5 dc in each ch-4 sp, skipping all other stitches. Shell in ch-2 sp of shell on previous round, end off.
Weave in ends.
