Bead and Shell Phone Case

Materials: Paton’s Grace yarn 1.3 oz, 186 round 6/0 Czech glass beads, thin thread and needle, tapestry needle, size F crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors. Optional: Size 1 snap, matching sewing thread and sewing needle.

Gauge: Shell repeat = 1 1/8”. Case is approximately 4 3/4” wide.

Special stitches:

Bead sc-push a bead up, then insert hook and draw up a loop. Yo and through 2 loops to complete the stitch. Bead appears on the opposite side of the work.

Back-to front (btf) bead sc-insert hook from back to front and draw up a loop, then push bead up, yo and through 2 loops to complete the stitch. Bead appears on the front of the work.

Note: turning ch-2 does not count as a stitch.

Thread beads on yarn as needed for each piece, and push down. Draw up beads as needed.

Phone case panel (make 2). For each panel, thread 81 beads.

Ch 27 to begin

Row 1-Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 26 st

Row 2-Sc in 1st sc, (bead sc in next st, sk 2 sts, 5 dc shell in next st, sk 2 sts)4x, bead sc in last st, ch 2, turn.

Row 3-3 dc in 1st st, (btf bead sc in center dc of shell, shell in next bead sc)3x, btf bead sc in center of next shell, 3 dc in next bead sc, dc in last st, ch 1, turn.

Row 4-sc in 1st st, (bead sc in next st, shell in next btf bead sc)4x, sk next 2 dc, bead sc in last dc, ch 2, turn.

Rows 5-19-Repeat rows 3 and 4 for pattern, ending with a row 3. End off, leaving a tail long enough to sew seam

Strap-Thread 24 beads

Row 1-Leaving a starting tail long enough to sew strap to case(ch 3, dc in 3rd ch from hook)25 times. Do not turn

Round 1-Ch 1, (3 sc over next dc, sc in ch at base of dc)25x, 3 sc in 1st ch. Now turn and work around other side of strap: (work 3 sc over next ch-3, insert hook from back to front under 2 lps of sc on other side of strap and work bead btf sc)24x, 6 sc over last ch 3 sp, join to first sc of round, end off, leaving tail to sew strap to case.
