Reminder: Fall 2014 Thesis and Dissertation Deadline

Post date: Nov 04, 2014 8:1:14 PM

We, at the Graduate School, would like to give you a reminder about the Fall Thesis and Dissertation Deadline. Please make sure that your graduating students are aware of the following information:

The deadline date for FINAL APPROVAL of an electronic Thesis or Dissertation by the Graduate School is Friday, December 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.

Please be aware that a submission via ProQuest does not mean that the document has been ACCEPTED for publishing. The review process is interactive and can take anywhere from a few hours to weeks depending upon the extent of the necessary revisions and how diligent the author is when making the necessary corrections.

To be able to be approved for publishing, the student’s thesis or dissertation must be reviewed by a Graduate School administrator, considered to be formatted correctly and all necessary paperwork (approval form, IRB or IACUC letter, and survey if applicable) must be turned in before the December 19th deadline. If the document is not considered to be formatted correctly and/or all necessary paperwork is not turned in by the deadline, the student will most likely be a Spring 2015 graduate instead.

The next 7 weeks will be extremely busy for our thesis and dissertation reviewers here at the Graduate School. As a result, we encourage students to submit their documents as soon as they are able after the defense and after corrections required by the committee have been made. Submitting via ProQuest 2-3 weeks before the deadline is optimal and ensures that there is plenty of time to review the document and get it formatted correctly prior to the deadline.
