Now Recruiting Graduate Assistants for the 2014-15 Academic Year!

Residence Education and Housing Services (REHS) at Michigan State University is now recruiting applicants for our Graduate Assistantships for 2014-15.

We have three different types of assistantships:

Assistant Community Directors

Responsible for assisting the Community Director of their hall with supervision, training, group advising, programming, student contact, and administrative tasks. Previous undergraduate residence hall or closely related experience is desired. This experience provides exceptional practical & theoretical application for graduate students in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration. This position requires the staff member to live in a residence hall on campus (furnished apartment and meal plan provided).

Graduate Assistant for Assessment and Research

Reporting to the Associate Director for Residence Education, this position has primary responsibility in supporting and assisting the department with its assessment and evaluation needs and processes. The GA for AR is responsible for assisting with development and execution of evaluation tools, data entry and analysis.

Graduate Assistant for Safety and Security

The GA is primarily responsible for serving as a support position for the Safety and Security Services Coordinator. Thiswill be accomplished through training, policy and protocol review collaboration with the RHS Health and Safety Office and MSU Police. The Safety and Security Services Coordinator Graduate Assistant will assist with development of a risk management resource guide for student group programming at Michigan State University. The GA will also assist withdevelopment and delivery of presentations and reports related to Safety and Security within our residential communities. They will also assist with formulating strategic partnerships/collaboration between Residence Education and Housing Services, academics, staff and, students at Michigan State University for increased safety and security on campus.

Conditions for Employment:

*Applications for assistantships and for admission to graduate school are made separately and should be made at the same time. Check with your graduate program for important deadlines.

*Interviews for assistantships are typically scheduled and conditional offers made prior to acceptance into a graduate program.

*Appointment to an assistantship is contingent upon acceptance into a degree-granting graduate program at MSU. You must have a completed bachelor's degree. Candidates are responsible for applying to graduate school and completing all requirements for admission. MSU accepts online graduate school applications:http://admissions.msu.edu/graduate.asp

*Graduate Assistants must maintain a 3.0 grade point average throughout their appointment.

All Assistantships include:

*Tuition waiver for 9 credits each semester during the academic year at the base MSU credit amount; credits taken above 9 credits would be charged at the in-state tuition rate.

*Matriculation fee is waived.

*A bi-weekly stipend (this varies per position).

Note: For Assistant Community Directors only: A furnished apartment and meal plan is included as part of the pay because staff in this role are required to live in an MSU residence hall. They also receive a stipend.

*Single-person student health insurance provided by MSU
