Oryx Caravan:
1.Stabilizers – All three units on the caravan required attention. Philip repaired them as needed. All 3 footplates broke. Philip will manufacture better quality items once back home.
2.Roof leak – Philip sealed the roof to prevent rain water entering the caravan.
3.Door lock – Philip made temporary repairs until a new lock could be purchased in Swakopmund.
4.Jockey Wheel – The wheel was damaged at Kalahari Rest Camp. The winding handle was repaired in Gaberone but it had to be replaced with a new unit when we returned home.
5.Power Supply fuses – New fuses were purchased in Francistown. Not sure what caused them to pop.
Land Rover:
1.Stone lodged in brake bracket – Francistown - Although not serious, the noise required the front left wheel to be removed so that the stone could be removed
2.Starter motor not working - Francistown – Due to previous issues that had been repaired, the wires connected to the starter motor were dirty resulting in poor contact. Philip cleaned the contacts and no further issues arose.
3.Turbo lost power – Rundu – The vehicle was driven to Tsumeb where the mechanic identified the problem. The circlip on the turbo power control arm was replaced.
4.Puncture – A stone went through the tread of the rear right wheel approximately 7km from the Torra Bay turnoff. The wheel was replaced with the spare wheel and a new tyre was purchased in Swakopmund.
