It rained most of the night. We got up at 05h00 so that we could travel south to Windhoek to “fix“ George, the Land Rover. Windhoek is about 700km south of Rundu.
It took us 4 hours to travel 250km to Grootfontein as we could barely reach 80km/h on the level roads. We enquired about a Land Rover Specialist - There were none in Grootfontein . We were directed to Auto Tech in Tsumeb. Tsumeb is on the way to Etosha, so we decided the possible 60km detour to Windhoek would be worth it.
We arrived at Auto Tech and Rynier was very helpful. After some diagnostics, he found the problem. A circlip that holds the Turbo Pressure Regulator arm in place was missing. The issue was resolved and we continued on our way to Etosha.
We arrived at the Onguma Game Reserve and booked into the Tamboti Campsite. Each campsite has it’s own ablutions, water & electricity. We decided to eat at the restaurant overlooking the waterhole to celebrate George’s recovery. We saw a number of small buck drink at the waterhole while enjoying the best steak ever – It was Oryx Steak.
