We departed from Panda Rest Camp at 07h30.
We popped in to visit a number of camp sites in Kasane before settling for Thebe River Safaris. The camp sites were well kept, large and each had it’s own lapa, water tap and electrical point.
After setting up camp, we decided to stay for 5 nights. This camping site is used by a lot of overlander groups which makes it busy and noisy, but interesting.
As it was Friday, we went to the PPC & C restaurant for our Friday night Pizza and Beer. The menu includes Indian curries that sounded delicious. We ended up sharing an hot Impala Curry and our traditional “Elliott” pizza. The curry was superb. Lynne ended up perspiring from the hot curry.
We left at 14h00 on Saturday afternoon and did the Chobe River Safari drive. We arrived back at camp at 19h30. Part of the drive included deep sand 4x4 driving.
We saw lots of animals including Elephants, Buffalo, Lion, Hyena, Crocodile, Hippo, Kudu, Waterbuck, Impala, Roan Antelope, etc. Also saw lots of birdlife.
On Sunday we planned to visit the Crocodile Farm, Cultural Centre & Picnic area and Senyati Safari Camp.
The first two items were closed.
Senyati Safari Camp is 8 km south from Kazangula. It is similar to Elephant Sands but the camping is 4,5 star and double the price. Next time we visit Kasane, we will definitely stay a couple of nights.
The Crocodile farm is open weekdays from 08h30 to 12h30 and 14h30 to 16h30. We arrived at 09h30 and it was closed as the “lady” had gone to the bank. I guess we will give the croc farm a miss.
My last decent expresso was 24 days ago at home. We decided to drop in at the Coffee Buzz café to get a caffeine dose. I confirm that this is the best expresso I have had in Botswana. I would recommend a stop at this café. It serves meals and has a curio shop and lots of character. Monday was spent updating the WEB page and relaxing.
125km Chobe River game drive in Land Rover.
