Assistant Librarian, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra
In April of 2005, Lisa S. Gedris was named the Assistant Librarian of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Lisa’s library experience includes training with Joann Vosburgh and Howard Hillyer in the PSO music library and work in the Duquesne University orchestra library. Additionally, Lisa worked in the position of Assistant Librarian for the PSO as a long-term substitute during 2 separate time periods, totaling 2 years.
As a professional trumpet player, Lisa was a member of the River City Brass Band, has played extra with the PSO and has played with the Westmoreland, Butler, Wheeling, and West Virginia Symphony Orchestras.
Her education includes Bachelor’s degrees from Alderson-Broaddus College in Music Education and Applied Music, a Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Duquesne University, and one year of study in the Artist Diploma program, also at Duquesne University. Her first trumpet teacher was her father, Jay Buhler, and her other teachers include Timothy DeWitt, Roger Sherman, and George Vosburgh.
Lisa’s teaching experience includes the following: private teacher, middle school instrumental music director, trumpet teacher at West Virginia Wesleyan College, marching band instructor, adjunct faculty at Duquesne University as brass band director and brass method class instructor.
Lisa and her husband, David, who is also a trumpet player, live in Greenfield and are expecting their first child in December.
