A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama, Jason served as the Creative Director and Associate Artistic Director of Pittsburgh CLO from 1999-2008 and was a member of the prestigious BMI Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop in New York City. He has directed and music directed numerous productions for the Pittsburgh CLO including, A Musical Christmas Carol, The Big Bang, four Richard Rodgers Awards shows honoring Broadway and Hollywood legends Gwen Verdon, Bernadette Peters, Shirley Jones and Rob and Kathleen Marshall and several Gallery of Heroes musicals for young audiences. He is the author of eleven original musicals, six of which have been produced by Pittsburgh CLO’s Gallery of Heroes Program. He recently co-wrote the musical I Love Gas! with Ted Watts, Jr. for Columbia Gas to promote gas safety. Jason composed the music to the original ballet, Who Owns the Sun? for The Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, which was narrated by James Earl Jones. He created the CLO/CMU New Works Program, which unites CMU Drama students with Broadway caliber directors and writers as they present staged readings of new musicals. This program recently welcomed ASCAP and renowned composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz to its fold as the next step for the top musicals that have gone through the Disney/ASCAP Musical Theater Workshop. Jason and his wife Lisa Klein are the creators of a children’s television pilot, Write On!, He is also the author/composer of The Three Sleuths-a live, interactive multimedia show that featured forensic legends Dr. Cyril Wecht, Dr. Henry Lee, Dr. Michael Baden and their most famous cases at the Rio Suites and Casino in Las Vegas. Jason also composed the music to Let’s Play, choreographed by Keisha Lalama-White for the Gus Giordano Jazz Company in Chicago. He is the founder of Frog Prince Theatricals, Inc., which most recently did the Pittsburgh casting for If It Ain’t Broke, Break It.
