What is Confucianism?
Confucianism is the cornerstone of traditional Chinese culture as well as a complete ideological system created by Confucius, based on the traditional culture of the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. It has dominated a feudal society that in essence has lasted 2000 years. and for that reason its influence over the history, social structure and the people of China cannot be overlooked.
Confucius lived in the Spring and Autumn Periods, a time when the established system could not meet the demand of development as the ruling classes of China experienced the transition from a slave to feudalist society. It was a time of "the collapse of etiquette and the deterioration of music", which implies the ethics and moralities of society were in decline. The intellectuals of the day were concerned about the future mode of society, hence the most brilliant contention of a hundred schools of thought, such as Legist, Taoist, thrived in a vibrant period in Chinese history. This is often regarded as the most exciting of times for Chinese intellectuals as no single doctrine dominated their lives.

Compared to his frustrated political career, his career as a teacher and philosopher was brilliant and full of achievements.
Much of his approach to education was avante garde as he promoted the ideas "to educate all despite their social status" and "to teach according to the students' characteristics". The first of these broke with tradition as only the aristocracy had the privilege of education.
He also proposed a complete set of principles concerning study. He said, "Studying without thinking leads to confusion; thinking without studying leads to laziness." Today's quality-education was nothing new to him.
Imparting knowledge was only part of his teaching; he was a living example of the concepts he promoted and this had a deep and lasting influence upon his disciples. His private life was a model of his doctrines. The Analects of Confucius provide a vivid record of his teachings but although he wrote nothing personally, his words were collected and recorded for posterity by his disciples. The accumulated words of wisdom have come down to us as "The Analects", one of the most important of all the Chinese classics.
He took great delight in studying and was modest enough to learn from anyone. He never tired of teaching his disciples while diligence, his unremitting pursuit of truth, ideas and perfect personality, his integrity, kindness, modesty and courteousness inspired his disciples and the intellects of subsequent generations. Uniquely, only he is qualified to be called "the teacher of ten thousand generations". It is said that among 3000 of his disciples, there were 72 who were brilliant and who succeeded in morality, literature, language, and especially politics. These politicians contributed much to the spreading, formation and development of Confucianism.
He stuck to righteousness, saying, "Improper fortunes are just flowing clouds to me. For proper fortunes, I will do jobs such as a driver." He was quite easy with his ideas despite of poverty. He was virtuous, always ready to help others and treated others with tolerance and honesty. To him, a benevolent person is one who loves others. He said, "Do not give others what you do not want yourself", similar to the Bible teaching of "All those things which you would have men do to you, even so do you to them: because this is the law and the prophets."
Influenced by Confucianism, in Chinese culture, an intellectual is not limited in study alone. He should be successful in being a human and in his bearing of himself. A key objective of an intellectual should be to make full use of his ability, personality and intelligence to do good for the state, society and the world at large. This idea is so precious that we cannot help asking why the products of today's education system are far from satisfactory! Why do not we pay attention to our ancestor's core values instead of wasting so much of our time and energy in word puzzles!

Time has passed over two thousand years. When we look back at history, it was praised. Some criticized and praised the feudal society that China is Confucius's China. Critics say that Confucius is ethnical, not philosophical, with no dialectical thinking. Praise or condemn, derogatory worth mentioning, after all, Confucius is a world cultural celebrities, after all, is the most famous politician, thinker and educator in Chinese history during the pre-Qin period, and many of his ideas and ideas on Chinese society in all aspects of a significant impact: whether in social form, or Chinese nation's thinking form, whether it is ethics, or code of conduct, are all deeply influenced by Confucianism. For example, on the question of reunification and division, there have been several divisions in Chinese history, but all are short-lived. Reunification has always been the main theme of the Chinese nation. Many feudal emperors ascended the throne at an early age and were operated diligently and diligently by others and their state machines were operating normally. This is all related to the Confucian loyalty thought deeply rooted in the thoughts of the Han nationality. In respect of ethics, the family and hierarchy of the Chinese nation are very strict, which is all related to the Confucian gentleman's responsibility to cultivate one's self, self-government, and thought of emperor Qi. On religious issues, various sects have also appeared in the history of the Chinese nation. Foreign religions have also intruded into China. Although they also flourished in the past, they ultimately failed to last long and could not replace Confucianism and greatly reduce their dominance The poisoning of the Han Chinese, the main body of the Chinese nation, cannot but be related to the Confucian belief that God only betrayed the godless.
In principle, the Chinese people pay attention to moderation and love to act according to their own rules. They advocate stability, oppose radical and oppose adventures. This is all related to the golden mean. Even many feudal scholars dissatisfied with the times, who were active in the world when they were young, sought their fame and suffered a blow back and they also came from Confucius's point of view. In a word, the two thousand years of feudal society in China was, to a certain degree, truly Confucian's Confucianism. Confucius proposed the concept of self-cultivation, governing the country and the whole world, the concept of neighborhood level among the monarchs and the monks and husbands, and the unmitigated golden mean Series of insights, casting the spiritual and moral pillar of the Chinese nation. The reason why the Chinese nation maintains its unity for a long time cannot but be related to Confucianism founded by Confucius.
However, Confucian school of Confucianism, especially the well-established feudal ethics, played a role in stabilizing the feudal order. Although the Chinese nation was once again promoted to a glorious historic occasion, it did depress the individuality of the Chinese nation. To a certain extent, hinder the development of the productive forces, so that our economy from the peak of Han and Tang Dynasties plunged into the modern trough. Time has entered the 21st century, China is overtaking the world economic power. Last year, China had joined the WTO and the economy was in line with the world. While we are learning the concepts of Western advanced technology and scientific management, we must also take the state of etiquette into consideration. The Chinese nation, which has lasted for thousands of years, can only take into consideration both Can we establish a socialist market economic order with Chinese characteristics. To some extent, only by maintaining the traditional ideals of virtue can we not lose the economic characteristics of our nationalities. Only when we are nationalistic can we be eternal. To establish an orderly economy in China today requires many rules, but it requires enterprises and businessmen to pay attention to credit and professional ethics. It is understandable that China's economy is still underdeveloped. People's desire to increase their incomes and improve their living standards should be understandable. However, they should by no means take counterfeiting measures as a means of sacrificing their status or losing their personality. While learning foreign experience, we should learn more from the ancient Confucian culture that seems outdated.
