Ten Resources which converted me

Ten of the Most Influential Resources which convinced me that the Catholic Church has the One True Faith (and why), causing me to leave behind 20 years of Protestantism

For me it was a set of ironic dominoes:

1. Church History in Plain Language by Shelly. I took this at Calvary Chapel Bible College, and my overt hostility against Catholicism ceased.

2. a friend of mine from Biola introduced me to critical bible commentaries with which I learned the value of socio-historical context in exegeting the Scriptures (not one source but a category of sources).

3. A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs by David Bercot (Anglican), which caused significant cognitive dissonance of why American Christianity was so different from primitive Christianity

4. St. Irenaeus Against Heresies--Rome & the Papacy were legit

5. St. Justin Martyr Apologies-- Catholic Mass is the legitimate way of Worship

6. A History of the Catholic Church by Hitchcock, caused me to reinterpret Catholicism entirely via historical context of theology

7. Commentary of the Gospel of John by Fr. Raymond Brown (ironically a required text at a Wesleyan Seminary). Helped me understand the 4th Gospel's rich sacramental theology

8. An Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine by St. Cdl. John Henry Newman, helped explain how Catholic Dogmas need not be explicitly presented in Scripture

9. Pascendi Gregis by St. Pius X got me to renounce my Modernism that I learned at Seminary

10. Denzinger's Sources of Catholic Dogma got me "full Trad"
