Lives of the Saints

Our Lord said of S. John the Baptist, “Truly I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” (Mt 11:11).

The great books of theology would have little meaning were it not for the solid testimony of the real people who have been inflamed by the love of God, and nurtured by the Faith, through the ages. When we read of the Heroes of old, from ancient history, do we not often feel that they were "flawed paragons?" This includes the Old Testament heroes, the heroes of ancient Greece and Rome, not to mention those of other lands.

The reading of the Lives of the Saints is a much-neglected practice: one could wish it were given a more prominent place in School Curricula.

We present below a tiny selection.
