English is the main language but there are 47 million Hispanic and Latino Americans in the USA, and Spanish is the second most widely taught foreign language. California and Texas have 20 million Spanish speakers; and Florida, New York, Arizona, illinois and New Jersey combined have over 10 million.

The `golden state` has the largest Spanish speaking population in the US with 14 million of the total 34 million inhabitants.
The second largest state in the USA, Texans are proud of their history and fight for independence. It is situated in South Central USA and has a population 25 million, of which 9.5 million are Spanish speakers.

The Spanish speaking population of Florida is 4.2 million and equivalent to almost 20% of the total state population. It was discovered by the Spaniard Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 who named it the `flowery land`, Forida. Tallahassee is the state capital, but the largest city is Jacksonville.
