Technology Integration 101: Just Add Google (BTSA)

Overview

The use of technology within the sphere of education is no longer just an added element in the K-12 classroom. It must become an integral part of how we as teachers do business and how our students construct their learning. This day-long workshop addresses the following key objectives:

1. Establish the current context of technology within our personal and academic worlds.
2. Examine the available district resources, include Google Apps.
3. Explore the potential of the Google App suite of products for teachers and students.
4. Understand the value and importance of digital collaboration.
5. Experiment with several teacher tools to enhance instruction.
6. Develop a technology implementation plan that will help teachers integrate 1-2 of the day's ideas into their current teaching world.

By design, this workshop has a major focus on the use of these tools by teachers. A second workshop (either over the summer or next year) will focus on student-based use of technology tools.
