Ofelia Khachiyan

My name is Ms. K and I will be your teacher for IM2/ Discrete Math. Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I’m very excited to get back to the classroom and meet my students in person!

I was born in Moscow, Russia and moved here in 1995. I have lived in San Diego since.

I graduated with a Bachelors Of Sciences in Applied Math. I double majored in Chemistry and Computer Sciences.

Prior to teaching, I worked as TA at SDSU and a financial advisor at US Bank

I worked at the bank while going to grad school, and my ultimate goal was to teach. I really enjoyed teaching at SDSU and wanted to pursue a career in teaching

My first year as a teacher (2015) I taught right here at CHS. The following year I got another job at La Jolla HS. This is my third year back at CHS.

I originally was an engineering major. I really enjoyed math and problem solving, so I chose to strictly choose a math major. Due to budget cuts SDSU didn’t offer some math classes so I took up Chemistry while I waited for those classes to open up again.

Through high school and college, I played volleyball.
