Jon Beaubien

Hello, my name is Mr. Jon Beaubien and I will be your teacher for Honors Chemistry. Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I’m very excited to get back to the classroom and meet my students in person!

Here are a few things about myself.

*I grew up in Flint, Michigan and the second oldest of 4 boys in my family.

*I was a chemistry major at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan and played on the

men’s soccer team for 4 years. While at college, I studied in Madrid for 3 months as part of a

foreign study program and did some travelling around Europe.

*I was recruited to move to San Diego from Michigan after I graduated from college in 1987.

*I have been in the San Diego Unified School District and at Clairemont HS since moving here.

(That makes this my 33rd year as being a teacher, wow!).

*I have been the boys’ soccer coach at CHS since 1988 and also coach the golf team in

the spring.

*I have 2 sons, ages 25 and 28 that are both alumni of CHS.

*I enjoy being active outdoors such as hiking, kayaking, bike riding, and playing soccer and golf.

I also like to travel and camp.

*My goal of being a teacher is to help every student learn the tools and skills to become

successful in whatever profession/interest they wish to pursue. I also plan to provide

strategies and methods for students to become better problem solvers and analytical thinkers.

I look forward to getting to know all of you while we continuously build a trusting and respectful relationship during our time in class. Let’s enjoy the school year together!
