Dana Klein

My name is Dana Klein (Mrs. Klein), and I will be your teacher for 9th grade Cluster English, 10th grade Advanced English, and 11th grade AP English Language and Composition. Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I’m very excited to be back in my classroom and meet my students in person!

A little Information about Mrs. Klein:

-I am from Pacific Beach and graduated from Mission Bay High School, where I was a 3-Sport Athlete - Tennis, Soccer, Swimming, and served on ASB all 4 years (Go Bucs)

-I received my BA in English from University of California Santa Barbara (Go Gauchos)

-I received my Single Subject Teaching Credential w/CLAD from SDSU (Go Aztecs)

-I received my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Preliminary Administrative Credential from SDSU (Go Aztecs)

-I was born to a teacher (My Dad), and my interior designer mother, and have one younger sister who lives in Alaska with her family.

-I was a day camp counselor and leader for 5 summers at the La Jolla YMCA, and I have babysat since I was 10 - I guess you can say I was destined to be a teacher.

-I taught 7th grade Middle School and was a co-ASB Advisor my first three years teaching, I then came to Clairemont High School in 2000 and have taught every grade, and every level of English since. I truly love Clairemont High School :)

-I have always learned by asking questions and interacting with others. I believe all people are capable of extraordinary things when they find what they are truly passionate about. This is why I love teaching, because I love to see my students follow their passions and become successful adults in “the real world.”

-I am currently the English Department Chairperson, I also serve on the Governance Team, and have Coached Girls’ soccer at Clairemont High School in the past.

-I truly am inspired by my students. I love the energy and excitement in a classroom when students are learning, teaching and collaborating with one another.

-I live in the Clairemont community with my SDFD/Paramedic Husband and our 4th grade daughter and our 4 fur children: Ginger, Koko, Paprika, and Chunky

-I love anything outdoors, and I am an avid gardener, cook, and purveyor of essential oils. I also LOVE soccer and don’t play anymore because I’ve torn my ACL 3 times, otherwise, I’d still be out there! My family loves taking trips in the winter and summer to Mammoth, Big Bear, Lake Tahoe and Alaska. I ski, paddleboard and walk my dogs for fun.
