My name is Karina Ocampo and I will be teaching Spanish 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and AP. Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I’m very excited to get back to the classroom and meet you and all my students in person!
Here is a little bit about myself:
I was born in Morelos, Mexico
Immigrated to this country at age 11
Attended Mission Bay High School
Graduated from University of San Diego with a bachelors in Spanish and Chicano Studies
I also received my teaching credential and Masters in curriculum and instruction from University of San Diego in 2003
I started teaching in 2001 and this has been my only profession since I graduated from USD
I came to CHS in 2003, a chieftain at heart!
I love teaching Spanish, the best reward is to listen to my students speaking it!
I am also the MEChA club advisor, our club goal is to embrace culture and promote higher education amongst latino students.
My main teaching goal is to make learning Spanish fun but also meaningful so that my students can use it outside of the classroom.
I have a son here at CHS, a senior this year.
My hobbies are to dance, travel and do volunteer work.
I look forward to an exciting year of learning and growing together. Please keep my contact info in case you have questions, would like support, or should need to communicate with me: kocampo1@sandi.net
