Verja
Jarrah Wells-Cavanagh
These are some images from "Verja" our major production. We chose to create a digital comic using 2D and 3D techniques that we have learnt throughout our studies. This project is a great example of how far we have come as individuals, and what is achievable if you work hard! As a team we pushed through some serious barriers and overcame huge obstacles. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this collaboration, and it wouldn't have been possible without the help from others.
The skills I have gained from my time at SAE are paramount for my future as an artist. This knowledge has changed my life in a very positive way. It has been a huge challenge to get this far, but I am so proud of myself and my fellow students. What a journey this has been!
Below are some of my favourite picks from our comic "Verja" I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed creating them.
Thank you.

I created this image as part of a collaboration with Shivam Rath and Audio student at SAE. This is a design I created for his upcoming album, "Mantra Hop"

This was a collaboration with Mivon Prince-Leyva a Film student at SAE as part of his documentary "We are our totem, A Native American Tale". I created an animation which explains how his father got his traditional name.
Reflection
This trimester has been huge, and a beautiful way to combine everything I've learned into one massive collaboration. I feel as if I utilized all of my skills from studying and working as a junior concept artist to create "Verja". It was a massive challenge for Jaz and myself, but we pulled through as a team. I wouldn't have been able to do it without her support and hard work. I overcame a lot of my own barriers when it comes to working in a collaboration as I understand how important it is to share the workload. You just can't do everything on your own, and a team will always produce a better result.
Before I started studying I had no idea this is where I would be now. My whole career has changed, and my dreams are just a few steps away. My aspirations are not vague, I know where I want to be in the industry and I know what it takes to get there. It's only a matter of time, and I will be living my dream as an artist. So thank you to all of the wonderful lecturers and students at SAE supporting me along my journey. I would not be here without you all.
