Packaging Rationale

I also really liked this project. I think it involved a lot of creative thinking and design solution as it was rebranding an already existing product into something almost entirely different. I chose brown and gold as gold is commonly associated with quality and prestige and the brown for natural earthy vibe, rather than the bright colours of often cheaper brands like oreo or uglies cookies. I think choosing byron bay cookie company was an interesting one to think about as it is both classy and up market yet i wanted it to also feel homemade and cute. I really like the style coming through design at the moment with simplistic yet cute drawings.

I think the most interesting was actually thinking about the shape and sizing of the dieline and box. I wanted the box to be kind of small and made from cardboard and not plastic, as this is more environmentally effective and also since byron bay cookie company often features in goft boxes and as a present it can be wrapped/ shipped easily.

I really liked this project. It made me reflect a lot on where i am as a designer and where i intend to go. When collating all my designs over the course of this two years i have realised that i do actually have a distinct style which has come with time.

I like designing bold, more minimal and quirky. I like bold drawings and sometimes using bright and funky colours schemes. I think it was interesting to figure out how to show my style and self through a logo. Moving forward i would like to set up my own business one day, maybe selling fashion or creating content, working with bands and doing album and poster designs.

For this project we had to choose a letter and typography and make it into an interesting shape. We then had to make a lino cut out of it and print it, then scan it put it back into illustrator and make interesting patterns and colour schemes. I really liked this project as it involved reflecting on lots of important things in the visual communication such as shape, colour typography and involved physical and digital art making processes. I really like funky colour schemes, colours typically used in 60s and 70s design. i also loved lino cutting so much that i wanted to continue doing it after this project and even in my major project.
