Running along the main road into town and finishing at the Pier, Victoria Gardens is a green space in the heart of the city, with pretty planting, gardens and a number of important fountains, such as the Victoria Fountain, near the pier, which was inaugurated on 25 May 1846 for the Queen's twenty-seventh birthday and is now listed.
At the northern end of the gardens, you'll find the Mazda Fountain which was given to the town in 1930 by Thomson-Houston Ltd following an exhibition and which now runs ocassionally and illuminates the jets of water at night.
