Hidden Gem Restaurants & Eateries

Been to Brighton before, tried all the usual places and looking for something a bit different? Our Hidden Gems are restaurants and eatery recommendations that are a bit further off the beaten track, so may not be immediately obvious, but for us they are something special

  1. The Plotting Parlour, Cocktails & Cafe - ££ - 5 mins walk - hidden in a side street very close to the pier, this lovely quirky cafe bar has lovely coffees, cakes & gorgeous cocktails

  2. Roedean Cafe & Mini Golf, Marine Drive - £ - 5 mins drive/10 mins bus - perched high above Brighton Marina, beside the golf course and the main road, you'll discover the charming family run Roedean Cafe, Since 1938, they've served simple cafe breakfasts, lunches, coffees & teas, but all done brilliantly. Sit outside for gorgeous sea views or enjoy a round of 16 hole mini golf!

  3. Bangkok Kitchen, Thai - £ - 25 mins walk / 10 mins taxi - no frills Thai takeaway & cafe restaurant, where it's not at all about fancy surroundings, but it's all about authentic & delicious Thai food. We love the pea fritters on the vege sharing platter as a great starter! A real favourite of ours and right by the Duke of Yorks cinema, makes a great night out

  4. Bali Brasserie, Indonesian - ££ - 30 mins walk/10 mins taxi - weird but good Indonesian/Malaysian, with great buffet deals.

  5. Marrocco's, Italian Pizzeria - ££ - 40 mins walk/10 mins taxi - in Hove, on the seafront since 1969, serving real Italian pizza, gelato & more. Well worth the journey - we like to walk there, get a taxi back!

  • Shoreham Airport Cafe - The Hummingbird Restaurant, Shoreham - ££ - 30 mins drive - wonderful old art deco building with lovely cafe / tea shop, now run by the local Truffles Bakery. Outstanding sandwiches, burgers, lunches, pastries and cakes. Really special and worth making the trip for if you're out Shoreham way...
