Best Restaurants to Try When It's Busy and You Don't Have a Reservation

Brighton's restaurants get really busy especially at weekends and the best restaurants can get booked up quite a lot in advance. If you arrive in Brighton however on a busy day and haven't booked anything, the following are good places to try and eat where you'll have a better chance of getting a table at decent time

  2. The Thomas Kemp, Pub - ££ - 3 mins walk - cool pub with great food, buzzy atmosphere and a nice little courtyard garden out back

  3. The Ginger Dog, Gastro pub - ££ - 4 mins walk - local hidden gem gastropub, with a small, elegant & ever changing menu of top quality modern British cuisine

  5. Suriya's Thai Kitchen - ££ - 8 mins walk - wonderful home cooked Thai food in Kemptown village, one of the best Thai's in Brighton we think

  6. Vel, South Indian - ££ - 8 mins walk - brilliant restaurant, with lovely owners and absolutely gorgeous, interesting, unusual food. We find the menu impossible to navigate, so we just ask the owner to bring us something nice and this always works a treat!

  7. Curry Leaf Cafe - ££ - 1 min - 15 mins walk - 2 branches, 1 just around the corner, the other in the Lanes. Small sharing platters of Indian street food

  8. Anatolia, Turkish - ££ - 3 mins walk - one of our favourites, great Turkish food, charcoal grilled meats, vegetables, rice, cous cous, salad & fresh pita

  9. Bay Leaf Curry - ££ - 3 mins walk - nice, standard Indian curry restaurant, we think a bit better than Pavel, but each to their own!

  10. La Vendimia, Spanish - ££ - 3 mins walk - nice tapas and paella

  11. Sawadee, Thai - ££ - 4 mins walk - our local Thai restaurant, always busy and with pretty good Thai food

  12. Buon Appetito, Italian - ££ - 4 mins walk - nice, smart little Italian pizzeria, & restaurant, quite 'Master Cheffy' and often has great lunchtime offers

  13. La Capanina, Italian - ££ - 4 mins walk - cosy, family style Italian pizzeria and restaurant

  14. Purezza, Vegan Pizzeria - ££ - 4 mins walk - 'plant pioneers' so all ingredients are plant based, with a buzzy atmosphere - always very popular

  15. The Blue Man, Lebanese - ££ - 5 mins walk - North African focused restaurant, blending flavours from all over the region

  16. Pike & Pine, Modern British - £££ - 5 mins walk - contemporary cooking in a modern, botanical backdrop. Not cheap, but it's a real treat!

  17. VIP Pizza - ££ - 5 mins walk - very busy, trendy pizzeria with an emphasis on top quality. Queues often out the door, book if you can!

  18. Harry Ramsden's, Fish & Chips - ££ - 5 mins walk - Consistently good fish & chips, right opposite the pier. Yes, it's a chain, but a good one!
