There are loads of places to eat in The Lanes, some of which are a bit touristy, but many offer really great food and drink in lovely settings. Here are some of the ones we'd particularly recommend...
Terre a Terre, Vegetarian Fine Dining - ££ - iconic restaurant in the Lanes since 1995. More vegetarian indulgence than abstinence, will stimulate your mind & taste buds and will change the way you view vegetarian cuisine forever
Indian Summer - £££ - unusal, gourmet Indian food in an elegant, sophisticated setting in the Lanes
English's, Seafood - £££ - traditional fine seafood restaurant, terrace & oyster bar based in 3 former fishermen cottages in the Lanes
The House Restaurant, Bistro - ££ - contemporary British bistro set in a converted house, with fabulous outside dining in the square in the heart of the Lanes. We think it's a bit touristy but some of our guests love it.
Donatello's, Italian - ££ - a family favourite in Brighton since 1987 with everything made in house. Excellent value 2 & 3 course menus
The Flint House - ££ - 15 mins walk - in the heart of The Lanes, offering modern, British small plate dining with wines, cocktails and rooftop terrace.
Giggling Squid, Thai - ££ - Thai 'tapas' - simple, rustic, fresh food, like they eat at home in Thailand, with lots of dishes that everyone shares
The Breakfast Club, American Diner - ££ - Miami American diner restaurant, serving all day breakfasts, waffles, silver dollar pancakes, burgers and more! How y'all doing?!
Plateau - ££ - 10 mins walk - OK, not British, it's a relaxed European wine bar, but with great sharing plates and some unusual wines
Moshimo, Japanese - ££ - new-age, stylish Japanese sushi restaurant, with a 'lovefish' campaign, promoting sustainable fishing, vege & vegan food
Street Thai - ££ - modern, fresh Thai street food, in a cool and colourful contemporary setting
Ole Ole Tapas & Flamenco Bar, Spanish - ££ - authentic Spanish tapas, with the passion of weekend flamenco dance shows. A bit touristy but fun!
64 Degrees, Modern British Fine Dining - £££ - modern British cooking, using fresh, seasonal produce creatively combined in small sharing dishes
Food for Friends, Vegetarian Brasserie - ££ - vegetarian fine dining brasserie, in the Lanes since 1981. Fantastic menu, stylish cosy atmosphere. We love it!
The Cricketers, Pub - ££ - oozing old fashioned charm, this Victorian pub serves great traditional food, and Graham Greene used to drink upstairs!
Pho, Vietnamese - ££ - modern Vietnamese cafe with a compact menu of noodle soups and street food dishes
Petit Pois, French - ££ - a rustic, warm, homely restaurant with well-known French classics given a modern twist with seasonal ingredients
Curry Leaf Cafe, Indian - ££ - 2 branches, 1 in The Lanes, 1 just around the corner from us. Small sharing platters of Indian street
Dos Sombreros, Mexican - ££ - fun and reasonable food, but a bit touristy and a bit expensive for what you get. There's better Mexican food in town...
Patty & Bun, Burgers - ££ - gourmet burgers, fries, milkshakes and cocktails
Casa Don Carlos, Spanish - ££ - small, busy, fun Spanish tapas restaurant in the Lanes
Riddle & Finns, Seafood - ££ - quality local seafood, oysters & champagne bar with 2 branches: either in the Lanes or on the seafront
The Ivy, Fine Dining - £££ - new in 2018, a touch of Soho style in the Lanes. Expect an elegant atmosphere and top quality food & service
Browns of Brighton, Brasserie - ££ - Brighton is the birthplace of Browns, with its first venue opening in the city. This classic open fronted wine bar brasserie with glass roof and contemporary British cuisine, afternoon tea & cocktails
Honest Burger - ££ - modern, premium burger restaurant with its heart in Brighton and some damned tasty burgers
No 32, Brasserie - ££ - Eat, drink & dance in this dark, modern, elegant setting, specialising in steaks

Touro Brazilian Steakhouse - ££ - Interesting dining concept from Brasil, all you can eat salads and side, plus all you can eat meat, meat and more meat served and sliced for you at the table. A meat lovers delight!
