Afternoon Tea
There are several options for a traditional English Afternoon Tea, whilst you're in Brighton, ranging from the stylish, classic, elegance of the Grand Hotel, to something more casual, fun and quirky, like Metrodeco, right on the corner of our street. Here are our favourites:-
1. Metrodeco - around £24 per person - one of the best afternoon teas in Brighton (and just happens to be on the corner of our street) is this quirky 1930s inspired cafe/gin bar. Great fun if you're here in group and doubles up as a fun gin cocktails place as afternoon turns into evening...
2. The Royal Pavilion - around £22.50 per person - enjoy Afternoon Tea at the Royal Pavilion, including finger sandwiches filled with hand picked crab & chervil essence, shaved cucumber, honey roast ham & mustard or egg & cress, followed by mini Victoria sponge cakes, mini Battenberg, Millionaires Shortbread and scones, honeymade jam & clotted cream, plus a pot of Pavilion loose leaf tea
3. Patisserie Valerie - around £17.50 per person - Patisserie Valerie's afternoon tea for two menu includes traditional finger sandwiches, scones and mini versions of its irresistible cake treats
4. Terre at Terre - around £24 per person - an original take Afternoon Tea. with everything Vegetarian, Vegan or Gluten Free including one savoury tier followed by three tiers of sweet treats featuring innovative dishes that tantalise all the senses. If you are feeling in an indulgent mood you can upgrade to include a glass of fizz or a cocktail
5. The Mock Turtle Tea Shop - around £10 per person - some people rave about this place, but we're not sure... Quirky and olde worlde, with lots of home made cakes, scones and... Right in the centre of town and good value
6. Browns of Brighton - around £14 per person - traditional Afternoon Tea with finger sandwiches, fruit scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream, a delicious selection of mini cakes, and a choice of loose leaf teas. There is an option to add a glass of Champagne or Hendrick's gin and tonic
7. Hotel Du Vin - around £22.50 per person - a modern take on Afternoon Tea including a Severn and Wye smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, egg and cress mayonnaise brioche, ham with Gruyere croissant, followed by warm scones, jams & clotted cream and finished with a few sweet mini treats like lemon meringue pie, raspberry & dark chocolate teacakes, rhubarb & custard doughnuts and topped off with homemade candy floss
8. Brighton Harbour Hotel - around £16 per person - served at The Jetty restaurant overlooking the sea, and consists of quintessential favourites such as sandwiches, scones and freshly baked cakes
9. The Grand Hotel - around £30 per person - Afternoon Tea in the opulent Victoria Terrace is 'one of the top 14 Afternoon Teas in the UK' (Independent, 2015). A famous Afternoon Tea at the Grand is a celebration of this glorious English tradition and the menu, designed by our Executive Chef Alan White, reflects The Grand's identity and famous seaside setting and includes freshly made sandwiches, pastries, scones and cakes, as well as some delicious surprising bespoke treats.
10. The Hilton Metropole - around £24 per person - the grand Waterhouse Bar & Terrace at the Hilton has elegance and stunning sea views plus a decadent afternoon tea, but given the choice we prefer tea at The Grand
