Drive Out to a Country Pub for Dinner
There are some lovely pubs in the countryside around Brighton, some of which serve delicious food as well as great local beers and wines. Here are some of our favourites, all within about 30 minutes drive
The Devil's Dyke Pub, Devil's Dyke - ££ - 20 mins drive - truly breathtaking views from up at Devil's Dyke across 30 miles of South Downs valley. Pub isn't amazing, but it's worth it for the view!
The Green Man, Ringmer - ££ - 30 mins drive - Excellent food, wine and beer - and save room for the home-made desserts, which are gorgeous and are served up in joke-like proportions - and we're not joking!!
The Cock Inn, Lewes - ££ - 30 mins drive - Great food, including choices for veges and vegans, plus great local ales & beers, in lovely old timber framed family run pub. Great Sunday roasts!
The Telscombe Tavern, Telscombe Cliffs - ££ - 15 mins drive - lovely family run pub, with excellent home made food. We love the sharing platters. Stunning sea & cliff views from the tables out on the cliff, but only for drinks
The Smuggler's Rest, Telscombe Cliffs - ££ - 15 mins drive - uninspiring (to poor) food with matching service, but absolutely stunning views from the dining tables outside out to sea and along the cliffs. Skip eating, and just drink in the views!
