Pathways

Welcome to the Data Collaborative’s Knowledge Management Tool — The Data Collaborative team was part of Read Charlotte, 2017-2020. The purpose of this tool is to promote and grant access to all things Data Collaborative. The site is created for three audiences in mind, with the goal to take three possible actions. These actions are listed below:

For an organization or community that hopes to create a Data Collaborative community from scratch.

1. Replicate: This site will offer our framework, resources and insights that we developed over three years. The hope is to replicate and grow the learnings of the Data Collaborative community in the context and realities of your personal situation. For this desirable action, we would suggest starting with the Holistic Model pathway.

For an organization that hopes to take pieces of the Data Collaborative to bring into its existing community, program and/or daily work.

2. Adopt/Adapt/Integrate: After hearing about the Data Collaborative, you realized you do similar work and are really interested in a specific body of work that you admire about the Data Collaborative. We would suggest starting with the Model Parts pathway to identify the cross sections of the Data Collaborative model that resonate most with you.

This is for our cherished Data Collaborative community partners who are the co-creators of the community and who wish to continue the work.

3. Continue: For this action, we suggest both the Holistic Model and Model Parts. Here is how we would suggest using the two different pathways:

  • Holistic Model: We suggest this for when you need a refresher on how everything is connected together throughout the community.

  • Model Parts: We suggest this for when you need to know how to replicate a specific part of the model — depending what you are hoping to achieve.

We know this site is not complete and that some questions will be left unanswered. The purpose of this site is to reflect on all of our work and capture what we could. It is an attempt to answer the questions and share the work we were able to achieve while continuously improving. We have had a lot of wins over the past three years. While we look to carry the bright spots into our next project, we want to be sure to expand and share what we have learned so the work can grow and spread to our community and collaborators.

Happy viewing,

-The Data Collaborative Team
