People are always looking at the stats in sports like the NFL, NBA, and MLB for the players and teams, but great athletes are made in middle school and high school. EJHS provides students with various physical activities they can participate in and try to get really good at. There are many sports at EJHS, but only a couple are able to hold records. This includes track and cross country. But what are the records?

There are a couple of different record types for cross country, including the school’s record, overall record, and course record. The school record means the fastest record ever recorded by an Edgewood athlete on any course. Our girls' record for the school section is Sarah Foster with a time of 10:49 in 2016. The boys' school record is Zaden Norris with a time of 10:05.08 in 2025. The overall course record is the fastest time on our course, but it can be an athlete from any school. And for boys it is Zaden Norris in 2024, with a time of 10:37. Coach Musselwhite said, "Motivating athletes starts with helping them set realistic, step-by-step goals instead of only focusing on a big record. We spend a lot of time focusing on improving thier own times, breaking their own personal records.”
In conclusion, track and cross country are some of the few sports that hold records. For track, there are many different events for which people have made records for, including sprinting, long distance, and field events. In cross country, there are many really fast runners that can set records in the school record, overall record, and course record. Katya Edgworth said, “It is really fun to look at the records to see the fast times students get.” Overall, EJHS has many talented athletes, all of whom need to be recognized for their amazing display of speedy talent, especially those who put the work in to be the very best.
