Did you know there is a place in Bloomington with a sports field and a playground? Well, there is, and it is called the Warehouse! The Warehouse is open from 11 am to 5:30 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. The Warehouse is on Rogers Street, owned by David Weil. It is a Christian-based and non-profit organization. With two playplaces for kids up to 13 years old. They have a skate park, a volleyball court, a pickleball court, a soccer field, a basketball court, and a football field. With rock climbing walls and trampolines.
What you see when you see walk into the Warehouse.
David decided to start The Warehouse after David and his wife had traveled the world for 20 years as missionaries to help teens get off drugs and other harmful stuff to their bodies. Then David felt God was calling him to pursue one of his sponsors to start a small family center in Bloomington. Davis described it as “it was full of dirt, birds, and darkness-dirty, scary old warehouse,” But God gave him a clear vision, and he was certain that this was the place. After over 10 huge businesses almost bought the building for millions of dollars; he got it for free. After a lot of work, he turned the old, scary place into what is now called the warehouse. Then we ask David what his favorite part of running The Warehouse is: “Seeing hope come to those who have none. Hearing the sound of kids screaming in delight.”
David has many goals for the Warehouse, and to continue to grow the place. One goal is to continue being able to provide a safe and free environment for the kids in Bloomington. David also wants to make sure that they keep sharing God's love to the kids. David loves having the opportunity to keep showing kids love and God's love. David hosts three main events with other small ones throughout the years. The three main events are Christmas, Halloween, and Easter. David said his favorite was Christmas, he said, because “The Christmas party is still my favorite. I love seeing families and children having fun and soaking in the atmosphere.”

The Warehouse has many values. One way to provide a safe place for kids to hang out. Valuing safety is the only way to keep a business like the warehouse running. The next value is trust in God through it all. The next value is to share the gospel through their business with all the kids that walk through the door. Lastly, love every kid that walks through the door. Making everyone feel loved and at home. With all these values, the warehouse will help you thrive and grow.

One thing that is in addition to The Warehouse’s fun is something called Gen 215. Gen 215 is actually short for the bible verse, Genesis 2:15, which says that, ”The LORD god took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Gen 215 is something you can think of as an indoor greenhouse. They work to grow food more healthily, using purple-ish pink lighting and fish poop as fertilizer. The natural fertilizer helps the food grow healthier. Gen 215 helps provide healthy and organic food to people who can’t access it or afford it. People who are struggling or not can get access to healthier food for themselves and their families.
In the end, the Warehouse is a great place for people to come and play as well as hang out with their friends and peers. The Warehouse is going to continue growing. David will continue spreading the love of Jesus to every kid who walks through his doors.
