March Madness is the tournament that everyone is talking about, and in this article, we're going over the event. We are talking about things like the best game, the most scored player, and the star players of this year. The crazy opening weekend had records and a sweet 16 field that not very many people expected.
The 2026 Basketball Tournament for March Madness lived up to its name, Madness. The biggest shock happened in the second round when Iowa knocked out the Number 1 seed, Florida, with a good 73-72 victory. Alvaro Folgueiras hit a three-pointer with just 4 and a half seconds remaining for the win. This win sent the Hawkeyes to their first Sweet 16 since 1999. They set a record for the ninth time, a number 9 seed has beaten a number 1 seed.
Other high-seeded teams were out early. Texas, the Number 11 seed, has emerged as a truly hardworking team, beating BYU in the first round and winning 74-68 over Gonzaga. The Number 5 seed, St. John’s, coached by Rick Pitino, beat Kansas in the final seconds of a 67-65 game.
In conclusion, this year's games have been a shock to viewers and exciting to watch. And the game itself is coming to a wrap, the most predicted so far to win is Michigan, but that might not happen. We have lots of dedicated fans who have been arguing about who's winning, even bringing non-sports fans to the sport. We are hoping that everyone who can watch will support all the teams that are still in. And everyone is excited to see the end.
