On Saturday, February 21, 2026, a fire ball straight from the sky had been spotted. For a split second, this fire ball lit up the sky. There were only about 120 witnesses. This is because it was seen at around 12:00 at night. Lots of people were asleep during this rare event. So where did this fire ball come from?

The fire ball was a small fragment of a much larger meteor. The meteor was from an asteroid belt. This is a lot of rocks in a ring out in space, similar to what is around Saturn. This particular meteor had come from somewhere in between Mars and Jupiter, traveling at 29,000 mph. Though this seems very fast, scientists have researched and assumed that it took about a thousand years from its starting reach Earth. This fire ball was seen from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Wisconsin. This sight was a shock to lots who saw it.
"It was crazy cool," said Jeremy Brady, a witness in London, Ohio. And he was right, for this was a crazy sight! This isn't typically a common sight to see or even have. Some could think that this is a common sight if you include asteroides. Like the asteroides, The fire ball had disintegrated, because of the earths atmosphere, which is incredibly strong. Others could wonder, ¨Where did it land?¨ It disintegrated in the atmosphere. What this means, is that the fire ball never had a specific landing point. The fire ball never even touched the ground before disintegrating.

In conclusion, this was an incredible sight to see. Even though this was a rare sight, not many people saw this in person. Instead, people who found out about it watched videos and couldn't believe it. If you have a telescope at your house, then maybe on a clear night you would be able to see a passing meteor. If it just disappears, then think back to what you learned on how they disappear in mid air.
