Apple picking and finding that perfect pumpkin in a pumpkin patch is one of those items on everyone’s fall bucket list. Well, that is something that you can do at Anderson’s Orchard in Mooresville, Indiana! If pumpkins and apples weren't enough, Anderson’s Orchard also provides hayrides with views of lakes, hills, and over 100 acres of land. Hayrides will be offered every weekend in October as well as during schools Fall Breaks. They do not have an entrance fee which is a bonus.. One of the main reasons people go to their orchards is because they are known for their many rows of apple trees. Where they have a wide variety of apples to choose from.
Once you’re done and have worked up an appetite you’ll find a variety of sweet treats. Warm apple cobbler with a scoop of ice cream is only $5. Is your mouth drooling yet? One of their most popular sweet treats is the caramel apples. They offer them topped with nuts. You will find local food trucks if you are looking to have lunch or dinner while you visit.
For families, they have a playground on the property to keep the kids busy. But the kid's favorite part is the tower of hay bales right next to the playground. There is a little kid train that offers rides, as well as bounce houses on certain weekends. They also have a petting zoo featuring ponies, alpacas, goats, llamas, and donkeys. While you are there you might, at some point encounter the owner's cute dog that roams the property. The pup is living its best life checking in on each family. Make sure to thank him and give him a good chin scratch.
On October 20th Anderson's Orchards hosts the Orchard Dash 5k and Lil’ Apple Dash. This is a celebration of the fall season racing through the beautiful orchard. It's a 5K race as well as the Lil Dash for the kids. The air is crisp and cold, leaves are changing colors and this could become one of your family's new traditions. They also have a no-hands pie eating contest which is a fun sight to see. Something new to this fun weekend besides the regular 5k they have added the pumpkin challenge run/walk. If you can complete this hard challenge at the end you will receive a lanyard medallion that you can add to your finishers medal as well as the well-earned bragging rights. This is the only fall race in Indianapolis on an orchard. Andersons Orchard is a must-visit on your fall bucket list.
